We sat and chatted for a while. So many children here can speak English and are very keen to find out everything about you .They are lovely to talk to and so open.
We then walked to the Pashisipatinath Temple which is the main temple for this festival although there were celebrations at the other temples.I was invited to dance with the group in the photo and I also danced with the elderly lady. Her grin reached from ear to ear and she kept thanking me for dancing with her when I was the one that was privileged. On this day foreigners are only allowed in the Temple area if they are a guest of a Nepal Citizen. It was so much fun.
All this week I have been walking through the streets of Kathmandu and have often been greeted by children and sometimes adults but mostly just a smile.Today dressed in a sari was something else.Everyone I had eye contact with greeted me with Namaste and others wanted to shake hands.Sometimes I was tapped on the shoulder so that I could be greeted formally. At times it was overwhelming but Sharella and Indu were never far away.Much of what I have read says that the Nepalese do not like any open display of affection.I have to say I have not found this the case. They are a very warm people with a great sense of fun.
Wow - you look amazing!!! I love the photo of you dancing. You sound as if you have had a fantastic weekend. Lots of love from us all xxx
