There was no yoga today as it was raining too hard. When I left for OCCED later, although it was not raining and very hot, there was a lot of water still lying. When I arrived at the children's home they were all having their weekly soakings whether it be a bath for the older boys ,a shower for the older girls or a bucket for the younger children.I spent some time combing the older girls hair as they are able to grow it once they start school. Some of them have very thick hair so it takes a lot of combing.
At 11 o'clock and group of third year dental students arrived to run a dental camp ,checking all the children's and Didi's teeth, and mine as some of the Didi's were reluctantto have theirs done.I am not a good advertisement for good western teeth as I have so many fillings but they did tell me they were good fillings. If any work needs doing they can then have it carried out by one of the students, monitored by a qualified dentist, for half the normal cost.I am going to suggest that some of the donation money goes teeth. fixing
The students, who were all volunteers belonging to a rotary club youth group, then made lunch for everyone followed by games and sweets for the children.
With some of the donation money I bought enough bananas for everyone for tea.I hope they enjoy them as I left before they ate them.
Nina ,one of the girls I spent a lot of time with last year is very sick. She has had a fever for 5 days and one of her kidneys is not functioning properly.I am still waiting to find out exactly what is wrong with her but she is going to hospital on Monday. She looks very poorly but I think everything is being done for her that can be at the moment. but I am going to find out what else is needed.
The boys need to have someone spend more time with them especially as Shanka has left to work abroad and the three older boys are at boarding school so are now away during term time. They are typical boys and need someone there all the time to have fun with them but at the same time giving them boundaries, mostly so that they do not end up hurting themselves.
